So far, seed starting has been going much better than last year – no mold, lots of green sprouts! While I’m still waiting for one seed order that I placed late, I started a few tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, tomatillos and ground cherries. I used 2.5″ peat pots filled with soil-less seed starting mix, and augmented last year’s set up with two lamps – one with a fluorescent bulb, and one with a 40-watt incandescent bulb. Last year, my tomatillos and ground cherries never got going, and the peppers and eggplant took about 4 weeks to pop up. So far, the tomatillos are the only pots that haven’t sprouted after just two weeks.
